Every journey starts with a single step

4 Jun

I’m George and I’m just about to give up the rat race to discover our new home in Spain. My wife, Liz, and I love Spanish food and have owned a house here for about seven years. Liz found our forever home in the village of Competa in Axarquia, Malaga province, in 2011. In 2013 circumstances meant we had a chance to make it just that. A forever home. I love to cook, I love to eat. With Liz as my chief taster I thought I’d share (with anybody who wants to listen) some of the wonderful foods we get to try. A few weeks ago we adopted a Breton Spaniel and she seems to like food as much as we do so she’ll get a chance to give my food the paws up or the paws down.

There’s a huge variety of foods in Spain. Partly due to the great climate and partly because of the rich heritage & history of the Iberian Peninsula. I started with a few recipe books on Spanish cooking and then through trial & error from tasting some fabulous foods in our local village and beyond and then trying to recreate the flavours in our own kitchen.

Please do let me have any feedback. I’ll share as much as I can with you about this wonderful country, it’s people, and it’s food. I may stray to other cuisines as well and maybe even share with you the secrets of my “Samosa Burger” and my “Jerk Burger”, amongst others. I’ll also tell you as much about the ingredients as possible.

Here goes …..
